Targa Tasmania attractions (Photo

Having so many things to do in Tasmania is one of the reasons we love it here. Like a tourist that chooses a single hotel as a base and heads out in the morning for a day's activities, in Tasmania we can do the same. With a scenic drive as a bonus and your sense of adventure along for the ride, many options are open due to the compact nature of the island state. (See the article about Mount Wellington for a perfect example.)

It's obvious that others prefer a driving tour around Tasmania, attractions and events deciding their ongoing path. Keep your entire luggage with you and there's no need to return back at night via the same path. Either choice suitable for a holiday, they would both still pose the same dilemma: how to restrict the things to do?
In Tasmania, a travel budget might be the solution. There is such a broad range of activities in Tasmania that tourists can define their holiday at either end of the luxury scale. As a local family of four, with no money tree in the backyard, the cash left in the wallet by the weekend can sometimes dictate the outing. No drama - just adopt the backpacking mindset. However, if taking the annual holiday in Tasmania, attractions and their expense would be all part of the deal.

Travelling in groups can cause another problem, catering to the likes and wants of all and sundry. But the list of things to do in Tasmania has all bases covered. No matter if you have a tree-hugger, a surfer-dude and a history boffin (although that would be quite an unusual mix!!); the activities in Tasmania would keep them all happy.

Some can sip wine and enjoy fine dining watching over a picturesque panorama, while others from the group can visit an art gallery or seek out wild animals on a wilderness quest. Then happily meet back at the five-star hotel or the camping ground in the evening (and debate... the cocktail bar or curling up with a brochure?).
Historical Things to Do
Theme parks might be thin on the ground, but in Tasmania, attractions and activities are unique and diverse. Not to mention more subtle, better on the pocket, exceptional and rare...
Get the message?
Yep, this family is very biased about the things to do in
Tasmania!!
